Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
ZetaGames ("we", "us") operates a free online games portal at zeta-games.vercel.app. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights over that data.
For questions or to exercise your rights, contact us at zetagames369@gmail.com.
2. Data we collect
We collect the minimum data needed to provide the service:
- Account data (when you sign in with Google): your name, email address, and profile picture URL — provided by Google OAuth via Supabase Auth.
- Profile data: XP, level, achievements unlocked, game progress, comments you post, friends, favorites, votes, playlists.
- Gameplay events: scores submitted to leaderboards, anonymous play counts, session start/end events, custom in-game events fired by the Zeta SDK (for analytics).
- Technical data: IP address (for rate-limiting and abuse prevention only — not stored), browser user-agent (in server logs).
- Cookies: see Section 5.
We do not collect: payment information (no monetization yet), precise geolocation, biometric data, contact lists, or browsing history outside ZetaGames.
3. Why we use your data
- To run the service: authenticate you, save your progress, show your rank on leaderboards, deliver achievements.
- To improve the service: analyze which games are popular, fix bugs (via Sentry error reports), measure feature usage.
- To prevent abuse: rate-limit suspicious requests, validate leaderboard scores against impossible values.
Legal basis under GDPR: contractual necessity (Art. 6(1)(b)) for account & service data; legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) for security & abuse prevention; consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for non-essential cookies and analytics.
4. Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers who help us run the platform. We do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.
- Supabase (database + auth) — stores your account data. EU/US data centers.
- Google (OAuth provider) — verifies your identity when you sign in.
- Vercel (frontend hosting) — serves the website. Sees IP + user-agent in standard server logs.
- Railway (backend hosting) — runs our API. Sees IP + user-agent in standard server logs.
- Sentry (error tracking) — receives error reports including the URL and a session ID. PII stripping is enabled by default.
5. Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in plus optional analytics:
- session_token (essential, httpOnly): keeps you signed in for 7 days. Cannot be turned off without breaking login.
- localStorage: zetanotif_last_check: remembers when you last opened the notifications panel so we don't show you the same items twice.
- localStorage: recentlyPlayed: stores the last 10 games you played for the "Recently Played" sidebar.
- localStorage: zetagames_cookie_consent: remembers your cookie choice.
You can clear all of these at any time from your browser settings.
6. Your rights
If you are in the EU, UK, California, or similar jurisdictions, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data (most fields are editable in your profile).
- Delete your account and all associated data.
- Export your data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email zetagames369@gmail.com with the subject "Data request". We will respond within 30 days.
7. Data retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your profile, comments, friends, favorites, votes, and progress within 30 days. Anonymous gameplay events (with no user_id) and aggregate stats are retained indefinitely for analytics. Server logs are kept for 30 days.
8. Children
ZetaGames is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced via an in-app banner. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
